The first interview was with the hiring manager. It was an hour long and conversational.
The second interview was with two team members: the tech lead and the manager of the team, along with another SWE. There were snippets of code that we talked through. They asked me to explain what each section of the code was doing.
There were a few questions asked by the tech lead that I didn’t quite understand. I thought I did well after the interview, only to find out they filled the role with an internal hire. This was due to economy issues and the fact that the internal candidate answered some questions better than me.
