Process

Interview with recruiter. Talked me up a lot, saying with my skill set I was qualified for multiple positions within the company. They were looking for people without space experience, and he would put me on each requisition.

Had a phone call with one manager and then received an email shortly after that they’ve decided not to move forward.

Seemed like the manager actually did want space experience based on the questions. Recruiter had no idea what he was talking about and got me excited about an opportunity that I never had the chance to be in the running for. Disappointing.

Gutted employee perks on top of already poor benefits

Pros: The few pros that they had have just been gutted, so... There's fancy techno music in the lobby, so you know you work for a cool company /s

Cons: Almost no retirement. Instead of matching, you get $500/year. This was kind of ok given other perks except they just announced that they're dropping the annual learning stipend from $2000 to $500 and the well-being subsidy has been cut in half. I never thought I'd want more project manager involvement, but with the complete lack of organization of work and projects, working here has made me miss things like daily stand-ups and project updates. Everything exists in silos, and everybody wants THEIR projects prioritized without regard to the others. I honestly can't tell if these are growing pains as the company grows and moves away from a start-up culture or if there's just a fundamental lack of concern with properly managing everything. Clearly they'd rather cut costs by taking things away from individual employees rather than question the fact that the way everything is managed is not at all streamlined and causes redundant work.
