Process

I spoke with a recruiter at a career fair and heard back the next day asking to schedule a phone interview with a team lead.

Three to four days later, I had the phone interview where we went over my resume and discussed some basic object-oriented programming concepts. Within 30 minutes of that call, I was asked to go on-site.

At the on-site interview, I met with three different team leads. We briefly spoke about my resume and then moved to the whiteboard. Many of the questions were more specific and difficult than expected.

  • The first manager covered data structures and algorithms (somewhat easy).
  • The second asked very specific object-oriented questions (e.g., implement a singleton class).
  • The last was to design and implement a program as both a Java project and a relational database (UML and Java implementation for the Java project, ERD and SQL implementation for the database).

I received an offer within three days of that interview.

One thing to note is that I was asked no behavioral-style questions, nor did I interview with an HR representative throughout the process. All of my interviews were technical.
