The NAND department at least gave some free dinner during tapeout time.
Other engineering departments could not care less if you are working late, there is no incentive, and management is very pushy to get jobs done ASAP.
Mediocre salary and no clear direction; we have had so many reorgs (2-3) and layoffs in the past few years.
Rule of thumb is to expect layoffs at least once a year, followed by a new round of hirings.
I guess they want to trim excess fat, but they do it often and the employees lose their morale.
Management made some effort to diversify and moved away from the commodity market, but the new products are an utter failure (like the Sansa Shaker) or mediocre (like the SlotRadio).
They need to do a better job in screening and testing new products to make sure they do not fail in the market.
I got this interview through the on-campus career fair. The hiring manager was very nice, and there were no unexpected questions. However, they canceled the position, and there were no next steps.
There were 3 rounds. The 1st was an inline test including aptitude and technical questions. Then the next round was the tech round, where they asked about all the technical knowledge. The final round was the HR round.
Phone interview with Director. Called onsite for interviews with 6 people the next day. Offer generated in the next 4 days. Blazing quick!
