Pros: Very "family-like" environment. Everyone knows what they are doing. Some of them are geniuses. Open environment, flexible hours, extremely supportive and engaged management. Amazing work-life balance most of the time.
Cons: Development can be a cacophony of dorm room sound, smell, personalities, and drinking at all hours of the workday. They are less agile and more waterfall than they should be. They are not as adaptable to change as they could or should be. In fact, several people I worked with were downright stubborn and set in their ways. The PMs don't seem to get full cooperation from development.
