Pros

Charismatic founders and C-Suite; Mission second to none; App that helps folks build wealth, for real.

Cons
  • Bullies in senior leadership ranks
  • PMO team that has a poor track record for hiring, training, mentoring, and leading. Quit hiring from the stodgy, hyper-political banking industry, especially PayPal.
  • Non-technical PMO and Proj Mgmt leadership which is a wreck. Ask a current employee. But plenty of finger-pointing and demands for dates, dates, dates without much value added.
  • Lack of industry experience across engineering, despite big titles. The company seems to have grown up in a vacuum.
  • Engineering Managers who have not historically been set up for success. Ample technical debt from waves of prior under-skilled employees.
  • Too many employees merely going through the motions as a result. Teams are often burned out and unengaged.
Advice to Management
  • Obliterate politics by starting at the top.
  • Rehire the majority of engineers -- poor expectations were established years ago by inexperienced, over-titled employees. Morale is currently nonexistent.
  • Focus on ONE THING at a time and FINISH.
