DevOps Engineer Interview Experience - London, United Kingdom
Process
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks.
The process had five stages:
- Initial call with an internal recruiter
- Conversation with the hiring manager and a team member, covering technical background and ways of working
- Take-home assignment: five open-ended questions plus a sample code submission
- Workshop-style review of the take-home with the team
- Final conversation with management, focused on the impact I’d had on previous businesses
The take-home assignment was the highlight. It wasn’t overly time-consuming, but it gave me space to think through my answers properly and draw on examples from my previous work. Submitting code in advance took away the pressure of a live coding interview, and it gave us plenty to discuss in the workshop stage. Overall it felt like a fair, well-structured process that assessed how I actually work, not how I perform under exam conditions.
