I was recruited by Target for an ETL position. They contacted me, and I went through two phone and two in-person interviews before they decided I hadn't had enough experience.
I received a generic, no-reply email stating that I was not selected and that they don't give feedback regarding the interview process. It was extremely impersonal and generic, which is something they aim not to be, according to their "culture".
Two days after receiving this email, I got a call from HR at the store I interviewed with, saying the last person I spoke with recommended me for a position two steps below the one they recruited me for.
I began the process over again and was informed that I would be required to have at least three more interviews. After the first interview in the second round, I was contacted regarding salary.
The store manager was nice and honest about the expectations we both had, and we decided to go our separate ways. I appreciated his honesty and the phone call; at least he cared enough to contact me.
After having gone through this process and reading the reviews, I feel I may have dodged a bullet.
Maybe I have a skewed view of what "recruiting" means, but I wasn't expecting such a repetitive, impersonal process.
Nothing unexpected.
