I signed up for an initial interview at a career fair. Target provided some optional interview preparation, which I found beneficial. The first interview was with an STL (Store Team Leader) and ETL (Executive Team Leader). It started with small talk and an elevator speech. Then, STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) questions came from a printed packet. At this point, the interviewers began taking heavy notes. I interviewed for about 30 minutes. Afterward, I was told I would be moving forward.
For the next interview, I had the option of a one-on-one in-person or a Skype interview. My tip: if you have the time and option, meet in person. This gesture goes a long way with employers and allows you to showcase your professional demeanor, including your handshake, attire, eye contact, posture, and non-verbal communication. This interview was with a District Manager. I loved the interview process with Target. They were friendly and, most importantly, professional. It was a great experience.
