Process

First, I received a phone call to explain the offer and conditions, and to ask about my profile and experience.

Second and third steps of the process were a video call focused on coding skills and knowledge.

The last part was more about my experience as a SCRUM player, team sizes I am used to, etc.

Questions

First interview:

Just a technical conversation about what tools and methods I would use for a given scenario. The interviewer was looking for general knowledge of existing tools and if I knew the pros and cons of the ones I mentioned, rather than knowing one of them in high detail.

Second interview:

Live coding challenge with two UI developers, with a 'real-world' UI request (Reactjs, HTML, CSS), not generic algorithm exercises.

Pros: - Good work pace. - Good technical skills to learn there. - Learn from amazing people. - The product is really complex, so at the beginning, you will feel terrible and disoriented (this is normal).

Cons: The company is growing from a startup to a more consolidated company, which is normal and expected. If you love the startup environment, seeing these kinds of changes is not for everyone, to be honest. The high rotation makes it hard to grow.

Cons: The company is growing from a startup to a more consolidated company, which is normal and expected. If you love the startup environment, seeing these kinds of changes is not for everyone, to be honest. The high rotation makes it hard to grow.

Cons: Engineering seniorship is lacking experience in mitigating migrations, focusing on important parts, and making companywide decisions. Most of the teams live in silos, not trying to care about what others are doing.

Cons: Engineering seniorship is lacking experience in mitigating migrations, focusing on important parts, and making companywide decisions. Most of the teams live in silos, not trying to care about what others are doing.

Very fun, but at times frustrating

Pros: The people: talented, humble, fun, and caring (for the most part). The environment: great city, culture, offices, and perks (coffee, lunch, beer, events, flexible hours, unlimited holidays <3). The product: loved by the customers, flexible enough to improve/extend, and still growing in usage and popularity.

Cons: The management: Hard work goes unrecognized. Doing next to no work seems acceptable at times. There's a general lack of awareness from leadership and management. The opportunities: Decision-making is not really a team consensus. Constant hiring of seniors means it's hard to progress. Pushing through your own ideas is tough.
