I applied via the job portal and the recruiter called me within two weeks. The recruiter was super friendly, and we had a 30-minute screening interview.
At the end of the call, they offered me a second telephone interview. This was a technical round with two senior developers from the Amsterdam office. It started with architectural and design questions, which I handled well. Next, they asked me to write code. As I am not a developer in my current role, it took me some time, but I managed.
The feedback after the interview was as expected: they liked my architectural approach but felt I was out of touch with coding. The recruiter offered me a re-interview after some preparation, which I agreed to. I really liked this approach.
After two weeks, I was supposed to have an interview with someone in the States. However, it was changed at the last minute to another senior developer from the States. This individual seemed in a hurry from the first minute and was in an insulting mode. I walked out of the interview after less than ten minutes.
I agree that I did not perform well enough in the second interview, but the treatment I received was not only unfriendly but also not encouraging towards future employees. If this is your company culture, I would rather not add it to my resume!
