Spoke with an internal recruiter who was very thorough in explaining the role, its importance within the organization, the people, the culture, and just about everything else I asked.

Then had a discussion with the person currently occupying the role and dug through more of the technical and day-to-day details.

From there, went on-site and met with several folks for varying interviews around system design, management, and a final meeting (same day) with the manager I would report to. Overall, very thorough and not overblown like many technical interviews.
