I had a phone interview a few months back. It was pretty standard, with a few simple CSS questions. I was not invited for an in-person interview, but they suggested I reach out again in a few months after building up my portfolio.
Recently, I received another message from a senior recruiter on LinkedIn about open opportunities and their interest in scheduling another phone interview. However, when I responded, they stated they hadn't realized I had already applied and that my skillset was unfortunately still not a match for them.
I found this experience to be unprofessional and disappointing.
