Process
The process began with an initial phone screen with the recruiter. This discussion covered basic technological experience and included a few behavioral questions.
The next stage was an online coding challenge, which did not have a time limit.
Following the coding challenge, there was a technical interview conducted over the phone using Coderpad.
This technical phone interview was then followed by a behavioral interview with the program manager.

Pros: Good office location with good efforts to make it more friendly, like pizza parties and tech knowledge sharing sessions.
Cons: There have been 3 layoffs in 2 years, with more than a dozen internal shifts in strategy. Before 2020, it was "let's be profitable." After 2020, it became "let's quickly expand." Then 2022 was "oops, let's be profitable." This led to team switches about every 6 months, with new managers, new goals, new everything.

Good Culture, Beware of Layoffs

Pros: Wayfair has a great engineering culture. They don't like to advertise it, but they generally allow remote work.
I was exposed to a lot of really interesting technology, including Kubernetes, GCP, Docker, and Linux.
Cons: Over the time that I worked for this company, I survived two rounds of layoffs.
The decision to focus on growth above all else has resulted in unsustainable periods of expansion that were doomed to failure.
Senior management does not have a good understanding of the technology that powers their business.
There are a few engineers who are very senior but have extremely toxic attitudes, and their seniority basically makes them immune to critical feedback.

Pros: Don’t expect any handholding or training. From day one, you are expected to start producing and taking on tickets. It’s fast-paced and difficult for a newcomer, especially if it’s your first job.
Cons: As mentioned above, it’s not easy to start.
