Pros

Snacks... that's about all you get for pros.

Cons
  • You will work with a bunch of legacy code and stored procedures.
  • There is no clear path for advancement, and if you are not promoted in 3 years, you are fired.
  • If you want to switch teams, you need to get a person from your new team to join your old team, which makes it virtually impossible to swap teams. So, if you end up in a bad team with bad management, that is your problem.
  • At the beginning of the pandemic, top management said they understood that some people (especially parents) might have decreased performance, as well as some people (mostly those who live alone) might have increased performance, and in both cases, it wouldn't affect the performance review. In reality, if your performance dropped, you would go on a PIP and be fired.
  • The amount of PTO is very low, and there are only 6 paid holidays in a year.
  • Before the pandemic, work-life balance was okay, but when the pandemic hit, expectations went up.
  • Be ready for multiple reorganizations a year.
  • Be ready to be moved to another team without anyone asking you.
