Within my last department, I was treated very well. My managers were unique in the way our group was handled. Good overall benefits.
Management is too political. I had an idea my layoff was coming, but I couldn't break into another group. The managers hired their old favorites, and despite my qualifications, they would not even respond to me after I interviewed for new positions. After 22 years, I was let go.
Treat each applicant fairly. Politics and favoritism are not the way to run a company.
Initial phone screen and technical in-person interview
The interview process was three steps: one with the manager, one with the team architect, and one with all team members. It was more of a casual discussion with questions interspersed, and felt similar to what I've done in the past.
One hour telephonic interview with four to five panel members. Asked a lot of questions, though the job doesn't require that much skill. First, the prime vendor contacted me with the opportunity, and later the interview took place.
