My interview experience with Workday was a tragicomedy.

One of their recruiters contacted me from LinkedIn and set up an informal meet-and-greet phone call. On the call, she asked just a few very basic questions about Agile and my past experience. She also mentioned that a senior manager had asked her to contact me, so she was primarily trying to sell the job to me for most of the conversation.

Two weeks later, I received an email from her stating that they had considered all of the interviews I had with Workday, carefully analyzed the results, and decided I was not a match for the role. The comedy is that I had not had any interviews with Workday at all, apart from the sales pitch phone call with their recruiter.

I replied to her with a smile, suggesting she had likely sent the email to the wrong person. She never replied back.

I actually think people at Workday do not really know what they are doing, and there is definitely something else going on in their hiring process. I work in a much bigger and more professional company, so it's good I learned about Workday earlier and decided not to even bother sending another email to the recruiter.

Their recruiters were also clueless. I asked one where Workday's main headquarters were, and she had no idea. A different Workday recruiter tried to set up a phone call with me for a different position, but believe it or not, he kept missing and not showing up for the calls without any prior notice or cancellation. He didn't even show up for the phone call that he had rescheduled.

It was completely amateur and a waste of time. I would not recommend any skilled IT person waste time with Workday. This is my experience with their Dublin office in Ireland; perhaps it is different in the US.

It was an informal first phone call; it was not really even an interview.
