Pros: Good perks, good benefits, diversity, and always interesting things to work on.

Cons: A culture of underachievement and finger-pointing, especially in the middle management layers that have been there for many years and were afraid of change. Also, due to frequent changes of CEO, there was a constant change of strategy, great confusion about direction, and lack of focus.

Pros: Yahoo has one of the best sets of internal tools to help a developer, and they should think about making these open source. There aren't many other companies out there that handle the amount of data that Yahoo does, and no one else has been doing it for longer than Yahoo. So if you are interested in Big Data, this is one of the best places to work for the sheer scale at which they operate.

Cons: The attrition rate is unbelievably high. The musical chairs that is the CEO's office is not helping matters. Senior management gets rewarded more for playing politics than for delivering new products/services. The technical leaders want to always play the safe game and just do enough to keep their jobs safe. Multiple teams are always working on similar projects, even after the huge layoffs. Teams are very insecure about other teams stepping on their toes, and there is not enough collaboration or communication between teams that are in different locations.

Pros: Friendly people, good food.

Cons: No business direction. Too many mid-level managers don't know what to do.
