Zapier Work Experiences

Zapier makes you happier

Senior Backend Engineer • Current Employee

Pros: People at Zapier are kind, empathetic, and open. I've made good friends here, and it's been a wonderful step in my career. It's hands-down the best culture I've ever worked in.

Cons: Zapier is struggling with equity across teams, countries, and levels. It's very difficult to navigate Zapier's growth framework, and a very affirmative and overly-positive culture (even if it makes working at Zapier really comfortable!) can make it really hard to advance and grow. I've struggled to find my place technically, and it's difficult to see my path forward.

Great Company That Encourages Growth and Tries to Avoid Burnout

Software Engineer II • Current Employee

January 3, 2022

Pros: Growth is encouraged. Managers are more like coaches than referees. Weekly time is encouraged for professional development outside of normal work. Great perks and room for leveling up. Positive working environment, and I am still in a positive feedback loop. Vacations/using PTO is very much encouraged. Many teams completely disappear for 3 weeks around Christmas.

Cons: Pay has not been as competitive as some larger companies, but that sounds like it is changing soon. Health insurance for families is only 50% covered versus 90% for the employee. So, people with a family have to pay quite a bit out of pocket. As anywhere, there is a ceiling on how far you can typically level up. This has increased, but we do not see many at Level 5. There is a cap on PTO that is not clear. Sometimes US leftist politics seem to be encouraged but are not required.
