Process
Zapier seems to know how to present themselves well to the public. Unfortunately, they don't seem to live by their stated values.
Day of interview: Automatic confirmation email, stating "we commit to replying to every candidate within 7 days after the initial application and every stage in the interview."
16 days later: Invitation to a video interview with a recruiter (with an apology for the delay).
Due to time zone differences, only interview spots very early in the morning (before 7 am) or late at night (after midnight) were available to choose from. For a company priding itself on having team members around the world, this shouldn't be the case. I chose an interview spot early in the morning.
20 minutes before the interview start, the recruiter canceled due to personal reasons.
So, we scheduled a new interview. The recruiter ended up calling me from her car because she didn't make it home in time.
7 days later: Invitation to an interview with the Lead Product Engineer. We ended up just casually chatting about my experiences, interests, and company culture. The next stage would be a take-home test. He emphasized that he felt quite positive about our conversation and would send me the test as soon as possible.
12 days later: Generic reply "we will not move forward with the application and cannot provide feedback."
Overall, the whole process was very chaotic and unprofessional.

They also laid off many senior ICs and kept middle management. They gave middle management the ICs' jobs, and they even got to keep their higher salaries. This is very messed up and pretty sure that's illegal. Next time, keep the people who actually do the work. Zapier's culture will unfortunately be tainted because of this.
