Loved working here before this week. Felt the company really exemplified its values. The people, work, pay, and work/life balance were great.
For a company that preaches its values, the layoffs conducted lacked transparency. Up until this point, they shared monthly financials with the company and said we were in a good position. They blamed AI for the restructuring.
They also laid off many senior ICs and kept middle management. They gave middle management the ICs' jobs, and they even got to keep their higher salaries. This is very messed up and pretty sure that's illegal. Next time, keep the people who actually do the work.
Zapier's culture will unfortunately be tainted because of this.
The severance package was a mere 12 weeks in this volatile job market. At least give the 16 other tech companies of the same caliber are giving folks.
