I did a 1-hour phone screen with a recruiter where we mostly discussed my current experience. It was going great until she asked me why I was leaving my current company. I expressed I felt as though I was plateauing and was looking for a place that could help me level up. The tone completely changed after this. She mentally checked out of our interview and visibly could not wait to be done with our call. At the end of the session, she asked if I had any questions, and I requested feedback for how the session went. She told me it went perfectly and there were no flags or anything for me to address. Three weeks later, I received a rejection email from a no-reply address. I regret even taking the time to speak to them.
