Best interview experience I had in my career!
My process consisted of several calls with a recruiter, hiring managers, engineers from my future team, and non-engineers from other teams. There was a lot of focus on communication (both verbal and written), compatibility with Zapier's values, and the approach to fully remote work. Questions during the technical interviews weren't difficult and were, I think, intentionally quite broad. This allowed me to start with a simple answer but also gave the opportunity to dig deeper and show my experience.
There was also a take-home programming assignment using the language of your choice. The goal was to write a simple tool solving a real-world problem. It wasn't difficult to implement. Also, it wasn't expected to provide a perfect solution. What was important was correctness, code quality, tests, and documenting the implementation and potential improvements.
