1Password, a leading enterprise password manager and pioneer in Extended Access Management, is seeking a Build Engineer to join their Build & Release Team. This role is crucial in designing, scaling, and maintaining the company's pipeline infrastructure across multiple platforms including Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and various CI systems.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $123,000-$167,000 USD for US-based roles (or $111,000-$150,000 CAD for Canada-based positions), along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and equity grants. The role is fully remote, available to candidates in the US or Canada.

As a Build Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing complex build and release pipelines, working with containerized technologies, and implementing infrastructure-as-code solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with CI systems, proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Powershell, or Bash, and expertise in tools like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities For Build Engineer

  • Work closely with development and operations teams to understand their needs and provide effective build and release solutions
  • Proactively monitor and maintain the health and stability of build infrastructure
  • Analyze build performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations
  • Guide other teams on CI/CD best practices
  • Collaborate with build engineers team to release products

Requirements For Build Engineer

  • Experience with CI systems, including designing, operating, and maintaining complex build and release pipelines
  • Proficiency in Python, Powershell, Bash, or comparable scripting languages
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm
  • Experience with containerized technologies, particularly Docker, and orchestration platforms, especially Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS
  • Experience with maintaining and deploying updated toolchains across CI pipelines
  • Proven knowledge of Make or similar build automation tooling
  • Understanding of different platforms' packaging scheme
  • Understanding of code signing and validation
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
