Airbnb is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for HotelTonight, a stand-alone hotel-booking service acquired in 2019. The role focuses on backend engineering for building a next-generation Hospitality & Booking Platform. You'll work on ensuring high availability and speed of APIs, scaling products, implementing security and anti-fraud solutions, and improving infrastructure. The tech stack includes Java, Ruby/Rails, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kafka, MySQL, and Postgres.
Responsibilities include:
- Owning and delivering guest & hotel partner facing features
- Ensuring backend scalability and performance
- Leading projects from ideation to rollout
- Maintaining platform integrity and reliability
- Participating in on-call rotation
- Evaluating new technologies
- Mentoring other engineers
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with relational databases and key/value stores
- Background in scaling high-traffic production systems
- Knowledge of server-driven UI architectures and API design
- Project scoping and management skills
