Amazon Operations is seeking an Automation Engineer (AE) to join their Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. The role focuses on fault-finding, troubleshooting, and improving controls solutions for automated material handling equipment in Amazon's Global Warehouse & Delivery Network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being the site-level Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all controls systems and sensors
- Training technicians in control systems fault-finding
- Participating in continuous improvement projects
- Working with IT, EU Controls Engineering, and Operations Engineering to maintain system documentation
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Providing support to other sites in the EU network as needed
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience with PLC controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process environment
- Expertise in supporting various conveyors and sortation systems
- Skills in material handling, flow, and capacity visualization and monitoring
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD
- Strong communication skills in English and the local language (CEFR Level B2 or higher)
Preferred qualifications include:
- Degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields
- Understanding of ISO 13849 & 62061
- Familiarity with CE Machinery Directive
- Experience in a multi-site environment
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, data analysis, and process improvement techniques
