Description For Incident Management Engineer (Japanese Speaker), Escalation and Event Management (E2M)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an Incident Management Engineer with strong Japanese and English communication skills to join their Escalation and Event Management (E2M) team. This role involves managing critical escalations, customer-facing communications, and handling large-scale customer-impacting events. Key responsibilities include leading the resolution of major incidents, driving critical and complex customer escalations, providing incident response and management for critical workloads, and collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders across AWS to improve customer experience and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Business-level oral and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Experience in network and operating system support, technical support, virtualization, orchestration, cloud computing, or incident management for enterprise-level architecture
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays (no late-night shifts)
  • Familiarity with cloud services, focusing on high availability and fault-tolerant design
  • Experience with data manipulation and automation using Python, JavaScript, or shell scripting
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in ambiguous environments
  • Capability to review complex technical details and communicate key points to senior stakeholders
