Amazon Devices is seeking a Security Engineer to join their Devices Security team, focusing on protecting consumer electronics products. This role combines software security expertise with hands-on development, making it ideal for engineers passionate about device security.
The position involves working with Amazon's diverse portfolio of consumer devices, including Kindle, Amazon Echo, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Astro, Ring Doorbells, and Blink Cameras. You'll be responsible for ensuring security throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to implementation and testing.
Key responsibilities include conducting threat modeling, performing security code reviews, implementing security testing and fuzzing, and analyzing platform component security. You'll work closely with product teams to provide security expertise and develop tools and techniques to enhance device security at scale.
The role requires strong technical skills in security and software development, with experience in C programming and knowledge of networking protocols. Understanding of system security vulnerabilities, penetration testing, and exploit development is essential. Experience with Python, Java, or C++ is beneficial, as is knowledge of Android OS internals and wireless connectivity protocols.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Devices Security
- Help guide the software development lifecycle of devices at Amazon, from security design, threat modeling to code reviews, security testing and fuzzing
- Be responsible for analyzing the security of the platform components of consumer devices
- Propose, research and develop tools and techniques to improve the security posture of devices at scale
- Provide technical security expertise and consultation to device product teams
- Identify security risks and work with product engineers to create mitigations
- Develop new security policies and procedures
- Empower others to improve their security acumen by promoting awareness and developing training materials
Requirements For Security Engineer, Devices Security
- 2+ years of any combination of: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
- Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing and the development of exploits
- Security code review experience in C
