Description For Senior Automation Engineer, MAN2 Reliability Maintenance Engineering

Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer for their Fulfillment Center (FC) in MAN2, Warrington. This role combines technical expertise in PLC-based controls with leadership responsibilities in maintaining and improving automated material handling systems. The position requires strong project management and communication skills, with a focus on safety-first operations.

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for critical systems that power Amazon's logistics operations, including troubleshooting complex automation systems, designing control solutions, and implementing improvements to material handling processes. They will serve as a technical leader, providing training to RME Technicians and working closely with IT, FC Software, and Operations Engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include PLC programming, system diagnosis, technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role requires expertise in Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC systems, AutoCAD proficiency, and experience with industrial engineering design. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of control system experience and strong analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer, MAN2 Reliability Maintenance Engineering

  • Prepare specifications and technical detail for equipment performance
  • Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis
  • Develop and implement PLC ladder code changes
  • Provide detailed analysis and testing of engineering solutions
  • Work with IT and Engineering teams to develop controls knowledge
  • Conduct root cause analysis and documentation
  • Support commissioning of new automation elements
  • Maintain electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures
  • Document control system and equipment configuration changes

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer, MAN2 Reliability Maintenance Engineering

Linux
  • 5+ years of control system working experience in PLC based controls
  • Experience in Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC control
  • AutoCAD work experience
  • Experience in material handling, flow and capacity
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma techniques
