Description For Software Development Engineer, AWS Proactive Security Detective Tooling

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Proactive Security Detective Tooling (PSDT) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer with a strong passion for security-at-scale. You'll join a team dedicated to building services that monitor AWS network hosts and their configurations. The role involves developing tools to keep AWS safe from malicious actors, preventing, detecting, and mitigating security events.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Being a technical leader who challenges norms and innovates
  • Owning, driving, and delivering software solutions
  • Executing project plans and meeting delivery commitments
  • Developing relationships with internal and external partners
  • Establishing long-term success strategies, development best practices, and operational excellence processes
  • Collaborating with peers to align strategies across development teams
  • Mentoring junior and new team members

The Network Security team within AWS PSDT focuses on ensuring all network endpoints meet AWS Security standards. This involves building large distributed systems capable of auditing internally-owned network hosts for potential misconfigurations and developing solutions to drive remediation at AWS-scale.

You'll work with immense quantities of data, pushing the envelope on scale and advanced analytical techniques to find and mitigate security threats. The role requires developing robust, large-scale distributed systems for data processing and providing technical leadership to other engineers.

While prior security expertise isn't mandatory, a passion for solving security challenges innovatively is essential. You'll develop a broad and deep understanding of the overall AWS security posture and contribute to core technology components for improvement and scaling.

This high-visibility role offers the opportunity to solve security challenges at a massive scale through automation, working closely with Application Security, Threat Intel, Security Operations, and Security Analyst teams to drive security improvements across AWS.

Join us in safeguarding the security and availability of all AWS services, including EC2, S3, and over 100 others, making a significant impact on cloud security at a global scale.
