Description For Solutions Design Engineer, Operations Engineering

Amazon is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Solutions Design Engineer for their EMEA fulfillment network. This role involves deep-diving into current processes, equipment, and procedures to develop creative and implementable process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will design and develop new and existing fulfillment center layouts, have a strong background in developing high-performance physical systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and project management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning the design and development of engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges
  • Leading concept and design development efforts for optimal solutions
  • Working closely with vendors, suppliers, and other teams to create innovative solutions
  • Managing high-visibility projects and tasks
  • Conducting post-mortem analyses on designs after implementation
  • Collaborating with various teams to ensure thorough documentation and smooth launches
  • Developing and updating design standards
  • Building strong relationships with key company partners

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering or a related STEM field, extensive experience in Design/Innovation or related areas, and fluency in English. The position involves up to 30% travel and can be based in Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, or the United Kingdom.

Requirements For Solutions Design Engineer, Operations Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering or related STEM field
  • Extensive experience in Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with complex MHE and packaging lines or process design based on Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Manufacturing System
  • Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
  • Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams
  • Fluency in English (verbal & written)
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders
