Description For Support Engineer III

Join us on our mission to once again revolutionize the way the world shops. We are the Amazon Physical Stores Retail Integration Team, responsible for launching and setup of the retail services which run stores like Amazon Go with its "Non-Just Walk Out" technology. As a Support Engineer III, you will be challenged to invent, create and solve challenging problems in an entrepreneurial environment. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, and work on services with a direct impact on the customer experience. Key responsibilities include creating new stores in Amazon back-end systems, updating key Java packages, troubleshooting the retail checkout pipeline, and defining new processes to scale operations. You will also mentor other engineers and collaborate with team members to solve complex problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% per year
  • 18+ months of computer hardware troubleshooting, Linux troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • 18+ months of computer networking experience
  • 2+ years of software development or technical support experience
  • Experience scripting in modern programming languages
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS, networks, and operating systems
  • Experience defining KPIs/SLAs for multi-million dollar businesses
  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
  • Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID
  • Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON

This role offers a competitive compensation package, including equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The base pay ranges from $52,800/year to $118,100/year, depending on the geographic market and job-related factors.

Responsibilities For Support Engineer III

  • Create new stores in Amazon back-end systems by running Linux command line scripts
  • Update key Java packages and deploy to runtime environments
  • Troubleshoot and oversee the health of retail checkout pipeline
  • Update and produce pipeline reports through various tools
  • Create standard operational procedures
  • Define and operationalize new processes to reduce critical path to scale
  • Mentor other engineers in your area of expertise
