As a Systems Engineer for EC2 at AWS, you'll be part of the Utility Computing (UC) organization, supporting the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services. You'll work on delivering foundational capability that benefits all customers, operating and engineering systems on a massive scale, and gaining world-class experience in cloud computing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Being a catalyst to deliver truly disruptive products that are growing rapidly
• Solving unique and first-order problems at massive-scale across many AWS Services
• Learning how to build and operate distributed systems at massive scale
• Building and influencing the tools and utilities that are part of the AWS fleet running internal services

On a typical day, you might:

• Dive deep into understanding the root cause of a customer issue
• Investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way
• Consult with senior engineers at Amazon
• Implement Operational Excellence best practices
• Automate manual processes
• Utilize Linux skills to troubleshoot, innovate fixes and workarounds
• Keep software up-to-date
• Provide data and metrics to help manage capacity and efficiency of services
• Use networking knowledge to identify and troubleshoot connectivity issues

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
• Working knowledge of Linux system administration
• Experience with systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc.
• Experience with network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
• Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to cloud computing concepts and design considerations
• Experience in a production environment
• Experience with monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
