Description For GPU Physical Design Engineer

Apple is seeking a GPU Physical Design Engineer to join their Silicon Technologies group. This role involves designing and manufacturing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient GPUs. The ideal candidate will work on creating elegant solutions to complex challenges, ensuring Apple products can efficiently handle tasks loved by millions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Realizing complete electrical analysis closure from early design planning to tapeout
  • Hands-on experience in physical design and large chip integration
  • Designing power grid specifications balancing power integrity targets and PNR performance
  • Contributing to on-die power switch topology, wake-up schemes, and in-rush control
  • Collaborating on bump map, custom RDL routing, and package design/optimization
  • Developing test structures, procedures/automation, and analysis methodologies
  • Performing Power Integrity, EM, and ESD analysis, driving feedback, and recommending design solutions

The role requires a mix of strategic engineering and hands-on technical work. The successful candidate will work closely with the Physical Design team and collaborate with internal teams to drive various aspects of GPU design and optimization.

Responsibilities For GPU Physical Design Engineer

Requirements For GPU Physical Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience planning, implementing, and analyzing power delivery networks
  • Expertise in different types of power-gated delivery techniques
  • Experience with bump planning and redistribution layer routing strategies
  • Background with Power Integrity analysis methodologies
  • Knowledge of large SoC designs (>20M gates) with frequencies over 1GHz
  • Experience with global power integrity tools (e.g., Redhawk, Voltus)
