ML Data Scientist - Computer Vision

The Data Analytic and Quality (DAQ) group at Apple is seeking a Machine Learning Data Scientist to specialize in the evaluation of GenAI models. This role involves collaboration with teams passionate about developing foundation models, including ML engineers, data scientists, and ML Infrastructure engineers.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Developing methods for the evaluation and improvement of foundation models
• Refining the data used in training models, applying data-centric AI approaches
• Designing and developing image/video analysis algorithms (ROI, SOD, content classification, artifact detection, etc.) and quality assessment algorithms
• Participating in crafting testing strategies and solutions for E2E quality evaluation
• Conducting detailed failure analysis on large GenAI models and machine learning models
• Working with developer teams to define and request data to ensure coverage
• Prototyping novel evaluation and benchmark methods from foundation model literature research
• Developing tools for analyzing and visualizing data
• Designing and implementing experiments for engineering studies and large-scale user studies
• Facilitating and supporting data collection and analysis in collaboration with other groups
• Contributing to defining feature specifications and anticipated user experience based on data insights

Apple offers a competitive compensation package, including base pay between $143,100 and $264,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
