Description For Software Application Support Engineer, Retail Engineering

Apple's Retail Engineering team is seeking a Software Application Support Engineer to join their distributed team supporting the Apple Online Store, a multi-channel elite eCommerce platform. This technical role requires deep understanding of the eCommerce platform to provide technical support to business and core engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical abilities with excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts into easily understood terms. As a support engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining system stability, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions for the Apple Online Store platform.

Key aspects of the role include incident management, production support, defect resolution, and knowledge transfer between teams. You'll work closely with engineering teams to prioritize and resolve production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and help evolve standard practices and procedures.

Responsibilities For Software Application Support Engineer, Retail Engineering

  • Partner with engineering teams to prioritize and fix production defects
  • Work non-standard hours to support teams with ongoing incident mitigation
  • Share on-call rotation with other team members
  • Take knowledge transition from engineering teams for changes being rolled out in production
  • Triage and prioritize incidents based on impact
  • Conduct RCA, log defects and partner with engineering team for prioritization
  • Automation, maintain support documentation and debug sophisticated production issues

Requirements For Software Application Support Engineer, Retail Engineering

Java
Scala
  • BS degree and equivalent experience or higher in CS or related field
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience in a large-scale environment
  • At least 2 years focused on Application Support Engineering
  • Coding knowledge in Java, Scala and frameworks related to Java
  • Good understanding of SQL
  • Skills and experience in monitoring, alerting, fault analysis, and automation
