Barry-Wehmiller, a $3 billion global leader in manufacturing technology, seeks a Senior Controls Engineer for their Chennai Global Competency Center (GCC). This role combines software development and industrial automation, focusing on developing control systems for medical device manufacturing equipment. The role involves designing and implementing complex control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and robotics, requiring expertise in languages like Jetter PLC, C++, and C#. You'll be responsible for full-cycle development, from initial design to deployment and maintenance, working with cross-functional teams to deliver custom automation solutions.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and controls development, with strong knowledge of Allen Bradley systems and SolidWorks Electrical. This position requires excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams.

Responsibilities For Senior Engineer - Controls

  • Design and develop electrical systems for medical device equipment
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, Robotics, and safety systems
  • Conduct testing and validation of control systems
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning
  • Create electrical schematics and panel layouts
  • Perform Design Reviews with Internal & External Customers
  • Maintain Schedule Milestones
  • Create and Review Detailed Bill of Materials
  • Provide Support to Operations During Build, Test & Evaluation

Requirements For Senior Engineer - Controls

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in control systems
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication or Instrumentation and Controls
  • Experience with Jetter PLCs, C++, or C#
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Electrical
  • Experience with Allen Bradley systems
  • Strong understanding of custom automation requirements
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Experience in robotics and automation systems
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Willing to travel up to 20% domestically and globally
