Description For Senior Unity Gameplay Developer (Contract)

Campfire is building the next generation of games powered by AI. Our first product is a cozy lifesim game with AI NPCs at the heart of the gameplay experience for PC and mobile platforms. We are a small and laser focused team doing something new and innovative.

We are a team of experienced product builders from Peloton, Microsoft, and Replika who've built products and games for millions of people. We're backed by some of the world's top tech and gaming investors including YCombinator and backers of Coinbase, Instacart and many more.

We're looking for a senior gameplay developer with extensive Unity experience to join our team and help us ship the game on time!

You have to have an incredibly detail oriented approach and think of delighting the user in every feature you work on.

You will:

  • Help get a multi platform iOS, Android and PC life sim game (think Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley) over the line to feature completion
  • Develop polished and visually delightful user facing features in the game layer using Unity and C#
  • Rapidly prototype features and games for user growth and retention
  • Elevate the level of user experience polish and delight with everything you work on
  • If needed, help develop and polish the games on the platform

You ideally have:

  • 4+ years of experience working as a Generalist or Gameplay developer using Unity
  • Comfortable stepping outside of the game engine to handle some light backend tasks enabling user facing features with DotNet C# API endpoints
  • A great instinct for delightful UX & presentation, both in game layer such as models, animations and VFX to UX flows and UI design
  • Equally comfortable building a sign up flow in UI, a physics driven gameplay feature, or an in-world UX flow like an interactive onboarding tutorial
  • Familiarity of Unity and how it works behind the scenes
  • Experience optimizing 3D games on mobile platforms

Nice to haves that will set you apart:

  • Some experience building full-stack web apps
  • Passion for future of games outside of work

More than anything, you should be excited to define the future of gaming and AI! Get in touch if this sounds like you.
