Description For Cloud Support Engineer, Saudi Arabia

Canonical is seeking a Cloud Support Engineer to deliver outstanding technical support on the full cloud technical stack. This role combines Linux support and software engineering skills, passion for technology, and general knowledge of the full stack, from hardware to application, networking, Linux and open source. The team provides exceptional technical support and engineering solutions to help customers with everything open source from Ubuntu Server and Desktop to OpenStack and Kubernetes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of Linux virtualization using Libvirt/KVM, containers, and Kubernetes
  • Utilize TCP/IP networking expertise to support customized solutions
  • Be the technical authority on popular open source software like PostgreSQL, Corosync/Pacemaker, MongoDB, MySQL, and Apache
  • Provide advice on deployed architecture and implement solutions for complex problems
  • Guide customers to successful data-center infrastructure operations
  • Communicate regularly with customer teams about ongoing issues

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Open source development or scripting experience
  • Professional experience with OpenStack (strong plus)
  • Professional experience with Kubernetes and/or Ceph
  • Fluent English speaking skills
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-facing experience
  • High motivation and ability to multi-task
  • Willingness to learn new technologies (LXD, Snaps, MAAS, Juju, Ubuntu)
  • Ability to travel

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge open source technologies, provide technical support, and engage in cloud-native development and data-center technologies. The position is office-based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and candidates must be based there or able to relocate.
