Description For Linux Desktop Support Engineer

Canonical is seeking a Linux Desktop Support Engineer with a passion for Linux and Customer Success. This role offers an opportunity to build a career supporting the technical needs of customers using Ubuntu and open source products. As a Linux Desktop Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering outstanding technical support on the full Desktop and Server technical stack. Your duties will include problem qualification, case management, and resolution. You'll need to prioritize customer issues, continuously learn about new products and technologies, and evolve professionally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide remote technical support for employees
  • Handle cases via telephone, email, and web
  • Ensure cases are handled according to SLAs with high customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to and maintain knowledge base articles
  • Draft technical notices for internal and external communication
  • Prioritize work effectively
  • Stay updated on product and service developments
  • Understand Ubuntu development process
  • Maintain regular communication with the team
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement
  • Participate in weekend working rotation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and system performance
  • Linux server administration experience
  • Programming fundamentals in any language
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
