Staff Software Engineer, Checkr Pay

Checkr is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join Checkr X, our innovation program aimed at finding and bringing to market new product bets for Checkr. This team is specifically thinking about People infrastructure for the future of work, beyond background checks. It's also designed to operate and iterate quickly like a new startup, while being able to leverage our existing strengths and assets from our core business.

We are specifically hiring a staff engineer for Checkr Pay - our bet in the payments space. Checkr Pay is a full-service payments platform for the gig economy. Checkr Pay allows gig platforms to pay their workforce instantly, seconds after completing a job, at no cost to the earner. Our core product is a digital wallet experience, including a free Visa debit card, that is embedded directly in gig platform apps/websites or accessed as a stand-alone web experience.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with customers, engineers, and leadership to design, develop and launch innovative new products
• Take full ownership of developing end-to-end web and mobile applications
• Work with implementation lead and sales team to support customer onboarding
• Design, instrument, and deploy new product experiments
• Ensure code quality and maintainability
• Leverage the Checkr ecosystem to accelerate development

Requirements:

• 7+ years of full stack software development experience
• Advanced knowledge in NodeJs / Javascript / TypeScript and React
• Experience with fast-paced startups
• Strong product sense and experimentation mindset
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
• Experience building scalable technical architecture
• Willingness to mentor junior engineers

Nice to have:

• Experience with microservices, event-based architecture, and payment rails
• Mobile development experience with cross-platform frameworks

The base salary range for this role is $172,732 to $203,214 in Denver, CO.
