Responsibilities For Senior Backend Engineer
- Build and maintain the core backend systems for SOL Arena, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability
- Collaborate with the gameplay and client teams to ensure seamless synchronization between server and client
- Work on scalable APIs and backend features for session and account management, player progression and game logic
- Troubleshoot backend systems in production, resolving issues quickly to minimize player impact
- Participate in backend architecture planning and feature design discussions
- Own areas of the backend, decide on implementation details independently based on overall architecture
Requirements For Senior Backend Engineer
- 7+ years of backend development experience, ideally with real-time or multiplayer systems
- Strong proficiency in Rust or experience in low-level programming languages with a willingness to learn Rust
- Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems
- Familiarity with infrastructure and tooling, including GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, Terraform, Nomad, Docker, and GCP/AWS/Azure
- Experience with relational database design; comfortable using ORMs and writing raw SQL queries
- Clear communication and documentation skills, comfortable collaborating with engineers
