Description For Customer Solutions Engineer

Cloudflare is seeking a Customer Solutions Engineer (CSE) to join their team as a trusted technical advisor for enterprise customers. In this role, you'll leverage your product expertise to ensure customers understand and utilize the Cloudflare platform to its fullest extent. Your goal is to help customers derive maximum value from their Cloudflare investment.

As a CSE, you'll work closely with Customer Success Managers and various teams across Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. You'll be responsible for delivering timely onboarding, providing technical guidance, and participating in account reviews. Your deep understanding of internet technologies, including security and performance aspects, will be crucial in solving complex problems and identifying expansion opportunities.

Key responsibilities include proactive technical guidance, collaboration on escalations, and contributing to the CSE organization through knowledge-sharing activities. The role requires excellent communication skills, project management abilities, and a passion for staying current with cutting-edge internet technologies.

Ideal candidates will have 5-8 years of post-sales customer relationship management experience, fluency in English (with Portuguese or Spanish as a plus), and a strong technical background in internet protocols, security, and performance optimization. Experience with scripting languages like Python or JavaScript is essential, as is the ability to manage projects and prioritize competing demands.

Responsibilities For Customer Solutions Engineer

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout a customer's lifecycle
  • Deliver timely and organized onboarding for customers
  • Ensure customers see the full value in Cloudflare's products
  • Advise on technical best practices
  • Participate in periodic account reviews
  • Provide clear proactive technical guidance across all products
  • Collaborate with Customer Support, Engineering, and other teams on technical escalations
  • Identify opportunities for expansion for existing customers
  • Capture and communicate gaps in product or features
  • Contribute to internal and external documentation
  • Answer technical Q&A and help iterate on best practices
  • Travel 20-30% for customer meetings, conferences, and team collaboration

Requirements For Customer Solutions Engineer

JavaScript

  • Fluent in English (Portuguese or Spanish as second language is a plus)
  • 5-8 years of prior post-sales customer relationship management
  • Deep understanding of how the internet works (OSI model, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP, proxies, security aspects, performance aspects)
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash)
  • Technical curiosity and passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends
  • Ability to manage projects, work to deadlines, and prioritize competing demands
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2 (bonus)
