Description For Lead Project Engineer, Power Electronics

Copeland, a global leader in climate technologies with $5 billion in revenue, is seeking a Lead Project Engineer specializing in Power Electronics to join their Electronics and Control business unit. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the next generation of variable speed power electronics products. Reporting to the Director of global product engineering - Power Electronics, you'll be responsible for developing variable speed drive products/platforms and managing their lifecycle for growth and profitability.

The position combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering work, requiring expertise in power electronics, motor control firmware, and embedded systems. You'll coordinate with both in-house and external engineering teams to design, develop, and maintain variable speed drive products while ensuring compliance with safety standards and performance requirements.

The ideal candidate brings 8-10 years of experience in power electronics product development, with a strong background in electronics hardware, motor control, and embedded firmware. You'll need excellent project management skills and the ability to work effectively with global teams. Responsibilities For Lead Project Engineer, Power Electronics

  • Coordinate and assist in designing and developing new variable speed drive product platforms
  • Develop product specifications, architecture, schedules, cost references, design documents, FMEA
  • Obtain and review agency standards for product compliance
  • Develop & document Test Procedures and standards for engineering
  • Coordinate performance, qualification and reliability testing
  • Perform competitive analysis of products
  • Provide technical expertise in Variable Speed Drives and motor control firmware
  • Diagnose drive related issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Develop user manuals and technical bulletins

Requirements For Lead Project Engineer, Power Electronics

Linux
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8-10 years of technical experience in power electronics product development
  • Experience in variable speed drive design concepts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of electronics hardware, motor control, embedded firmware
  • Experience with MATLAB, schematic capture and simulation tools
  • EMI/EMC mitigation techniques knowledge
  • Experience working with UL/VDE safety agencies
