Description For Controls Support Engineer

Dematic, a global leader in integrated logistics and material handling automation, is seeking a Controls Support Engineer to join their Customer Service team in Brisbane. This role represents an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in material handling automation, focusing on the deployment and support of electrical control systems.

The position involves designing, documenting, testing, and commissioning material handling automation hardware and PLC software across various customer locations in Australia and New Zealand. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in control systems, particularly with Siemens S7 PLCs, SCADA systems, and materials handling system controls.

As a Controls Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for providing second-level technical support, participating in on-call support, developing functional specifications, and ensuring system performance through regular diagnostics and analysis. Responsibilities For Controls Support Engineer

  • Provide second level technical support to maintenance teams
  • Participate in on-call after hours support roster
  • Prepare/assist with budget costing and quoting
  • Develop functional specifications
  • Complete regular system diagnostics and analysis procedures
  • Prepare schematic drawings and PLC programs
  • Configure SCADA and PLC-related equipment
  • Plan and supervise controls installations
  • Test and commission systems on site
  • Prepare test plans and technical manuals
  • Train client personnel and provide customer support

Requirements For Controls Support Engineer

  • Degree in electronics/mechatronics engineering
  • Project design and commissioning experience in Australia
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens S7 preferred)
  • Experience with SCADA systems (ICONICS, CITEC, WINCC)
  • Knowledge of materials handling system controls
  • Technical documentation writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Electrical trades licence (highly regarded)
  • Willingness to travel interstate and overseas
