Principal Android Developer

DEPT® is seeking a Principal Android Developer to join their Digital Products Team. This is a full-time contract opportunity for an experienced developer passionate about the Android and mobile ecosystem. The ideal candidate will work on complex apps across various industries, developing primarily in Kotlin with possible use of Java, Flutter, or React Native.

Key responsibilities include:

• Architecting and developing complex apps for various clients
• Leading technology decisions and mentoring team members
• Staying up-to-date with the latest Android ecosystem trends
• Collaborating in agile development practices and code reviews
• Interfacing with clients (20% of the role)
• Shaping best practices and innovation for the Android team

The ideal candidate should have:

• Multiple years of experience writing Android apps
• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin
• Experience with Flutter and/or Java (preferred)
• Deep understanding of UI/UX and ability to implement complex animations
• Strong knowledge of network and data layer optimization
• A track record of shipping multiple apps to the store
• Experience in mentoring and developing team skills
• Familiarity with version control, preferably git
