Description For Lead Software Architect

Disney Experiences (DX) - Technology and Digital, a division of the Walt Disney Company, is seeking a Lead Software Architect to join their team. This role will be part of the DX Commerce Architecture team, supporting Lodging, Ticketing, Travel Trade and Ecommerce business domains.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing solutions based on organizational strategy
  • Developing enterprise-level application and custom integration solutions
  • Defining application tiers, frameworks, and interfaces for complex projects
  • Identifying specifications and developing complex software solutions
  • Leading technical project teams and resolving difficult support problems
  • Researching and implementing industry trends in solutions, procedures, and tools
  • Designing development standards and architectures for code reuse
  • Participating in program-level application architecture decisions
  • Advocating technical standards and providing project-level work product reviews
  • Analyzing existing application environments for future strategic migration
  • Collaborating with teams across multiple disciplines

Requirements:

  • 7+ years relevant Architecture experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, XML, JSON, and GraphQL
  • Deep understanding of AWS and other cloud providers
  • Proficiency in architectural modeling technologies
  • Experience architecting digital and mobile solutions
  • Understanding of software design patterns (Micro Services), networks, and protocols
  • Extensive knowledge of Engineering Technologies (Java, NoSQL, Node.js, Relational Databases)
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Experience driving complex technical programs across large stakeholder groups
  • Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM or Agile/Kanban methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong executive presentation and speaking skills
  • TOGAF certification
  • 3+ years of experience architecting Lodging, Trade, and Ticketing systems
  • Prior experience with Disney's business and applications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent industry experience
