Description For Lead Software Engineer, Frontend

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer, Frontend to join their Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) organization. This role will be responsible for building innovative and cutting-edge capabilities to drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney's streaming and digital products. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience building highly scalable and performant web applications, expert knowledge in Javascript, Typescript, and React, and the ability to architect sophisticated technical changes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading projects and working closely with engineering and product teams
  • Writing, maintaining, and enforcing code quality through test-driven development
  • Architecting and designing implementations
  • Supporting and mentoring senior developers
  • Applying experience to identify and resolve sophisticated tasks involving architectural application changes

The role offers the opportunity to work on products that reach millions of consumers daily, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+. The team is fast-paced and fast-growing, sharing knowledge and code for initiatives throughout Disney.

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years experience in building scalable web applications
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Expert knowledge in Javascript, Typescript, and React
  • Experience with API specifications and collaboration with service teams
  • Strong problem-solving and mentoring skills

Preferred qualifications include experience with production-level React/Node.js applications, web accessibility fundamentals, and industry knowledge of web standards and new technologies.
