Principal Software Engineer - Fullstack

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be part of a diverse and talented organization focused on building and maintaining complex web applications for ESPN. You will be working with modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build components and modules used by millions of fans worldwide
• Connect UI components to live APIs
• Work with native teams on seamless webview integrations
• Support live event coverage and issue triage
• Coach and mentor teammates (15%)
• Partner with other engineering teams on complex problems (15%)
• Lead code and architectural reviews (60%)
• Conduct competitive frontend industry research (10%)

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 10+ years relevant industry experience
• Mastery of frontend web development technologies
• Extensive experience with JavaScript, React, and NodeJS
• Experience with task automation (GitLab, GitHub Actions, WebPack)
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail

The role offers competitive compensation based on location:

• Santa Monica/Glendale, CA: $184,300 - $247,100
• Seattle, WA/New York, NY: $193,100 - $258,900
• San Francisco, CA: $201,900 - $270,700
