As a Senior Digital Backend Layout Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of semiconductor engineering, leading the backend flow of digital ASIC designs from synthesis to GDSII. The position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $200,000 annually and requires 5+ years of experience in digital backend design. The role demands expertise in physical design tools like Cadence Innovus and Synopsys ICC2, along with strong scripting abilities in TCL, Python, or Perl.

Responsibilities For Senior Digital Backend (Place & Route) Layout Engineer

  • Manage end-to-end backend physical design flow, including floor planning, placement, routing, and timing optimization
  • Optimize layout for power efficiency, timing closure, and area
  • Perform Static Timing Analysis (STA) and drive timing closure
  • Ensure DRC and LVS compliance using industry-standard tools
  • Work with industry-standard EDA tools and scripting languages for flow customization
  • Collaborate with digital design, verification, and RF/analog layout teams
  • Maintain documentation of design methodologies, processes, and results

Requirements For Senior Digital Backend (Place & Route) Layout Engineer

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years in digital backend design
  • Experience with P&R and tape-out in advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm)
  • Proficiency with physical design tools (Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, Mentor Calibre)
  • Strong knowledge of timing analysis, clock tree synthesis, IR drop analysis, and EM checks
  • Familiarity with physical verification techniques (DRC, LVS, PEX)
  • Scripting experience with TCL, Python, or Perl
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
